Objective:
J. Walter Thompson
(JWT) wanted to create a corporate presence on the World Wide Web
and allow JWT field offices to develop remote webpages with independent
creative freedom while maintaining consistency.
vivid Implementation:
In Phase I
of this project, vivid and JWT developed a website
which demonstrated JWT's global presence. The interface varies according
to the user's location (domain), presenting the user with the appropriate
region. Users also are routed to either a graphics-heavy or graphics-lite
site depending upon their browser. This allows for larger, richer
graphics, while still supporting users with less sophisticated browsers.
vivid and JWT worked together on the design that
takes advantage of this feature.
For Phase II,
vivid developed a form-oriented remote publishing
engine called the "Thompson Homepage Template" that could
quickly implement small, customized webpages for JWT offices worldwide
(over 200 locations). In this way, the smaller JWT offices can be
linked to the corporate website allowing creative freedom, maintaining
consistency of content, and eliminating redundancy. Contact information
is dynamically presented from one of JWT's databases until an office
creates their own page.
vivid
and JWT also implemented a Gallery Order form which creates a personalized,
privately-viewable ad show for users who fill out a request form.
The URL of a private webpage is mailed to the user, who then has
72 hours to view the ads requested.
vivid
also developed the Ad Game written and designed by JWT, available
within their site.
