Recently vivid completed development of global website architecture for Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions (BAIS). vivid designed the framework and tools for creating, building, and managing dynamically generated web pages for Bell Atlantic's website from a continuously updated comprehensive database. The system allows Bell Atlantic to identify, track, and add links to appropriate local and regional websites, automatically incorporate the information into localized directories, and maintain content assets using state-of-the-art, interactive features and a sophisticated interface design.
For J. Walter Thompson, one of the world's largest advertising agencies, vivid built a forms-oriented remote publishing engine that gives each of the 200 JWT offices worldwide the ability to create their own web pages within the framework of the master JWT website designed by vivid. To present the user with a satisfying and personalized experience, vivid developed technology that varies and localizes the interface according to browser support and geographic location as well as a personalized, privately-viewable ad show and multiple choice ad game. JWT's homepage and site orientation are available in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese.
vivid's innovative online programming is evident in all their projects. vivid worked with Microsoft on the Windows®95 Launch to develop, implement, and maintain, what is considered one of the largest website endeavors to date. To accommodate users around the world and support the 20 million hits the site received in the first 24 hours, vivid distributed servers worldwide and engineered a remote backend infrastructure and security system. The site allowed users worldwide to participate in the Windows®95 Launch festivities and featured "Bethany, TX," a vivid signature Net hunt. In addition, vivid's newest automated website technology allowed Microsoft's Product Pavilion to quickly and easily connect site visitors with over 300 Designed for Windows®95 products.
vivid also created the "Johnny Mnemonic net.hunt" for Sony New Technologies. The hunt was designed as a creative and entertaining way to promote Sony's movie-related products. In a project sponsored by Silicon Graphics, Inc., vivid developed "The Rift," a Net hunt which promoted the many uses of Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE(TM) Indigo2(TM) IMPACT(TM) system.
vivid studios' expertise in web technology and design enabled Computer Curriculum Corporation (CCC), a leading multimedia publisher for education and a unit of Simon & Schuster, the world's largest educational publisher, to create the first website with an interactive curriculum online (CCCnet). Designed for use in both school and home, CCCnet's curriculum projects are based on national education standards. In CCCnet's interactive curriculum, vivid studios incorporated leading-edge web technologies, including two-way communications, links to valuable information on the web, a graphical interface, and web-page publishing capabilities. CCCnet was named one of the "Ten Top Educational Websites" in the June 1996 issue of The Net magazine.
For the International Data Group (IDG), the world's largest information technology publisher, vivid created a content-rich site reflecting IDG's enormous scope of information while maintaining ease-of-use. vivid has also developed interfaces and novel interaction paradigms for online places including The WELL and Delphi Internet services.
Winner of the Best Environmental and Humanitarian Website at the 1996 Digital Hollywood Expo, The NAMES Project Foundation website, designed and built by vivid, includes information about the AIDS Memorial Quilt, promotes upcoming events, serves as an internal resource and information exchange, acts as an educational tool in the fight against AIDS, and contributes to the formation of a digital community helping to combat the AIDS epidemic. The website is an information repository and community gathering place encompassing educational tools and facilitating information exchange between users.
To maintain a cooperative environment, vivid takes an active role in educating others about multimedia. Many vividians are on the faculty of San Francisco State University's Multimedia Extension and are frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and events.
