People ask us, "How do you do that voodoo that you do so well?" There's no black magic in what we do. Ok, maybe there's a little alchemy involved, but our methods are grounded in the real world.

We began with a theory that balances six components:

• content design
• visual design
• information design
• interaction design
• compatibility design
• performance design

...and from there developed a six-stage process for each project:

• concept + planning
• design, specification, + prototype
• production
• testing
• live
• maintenance + wrap

...that required six teams to make it happen:

• experience
• engineering
• producers
• management
• client
• operations

We also put together a special Client Guide to the Web for our clients, to help them understand our terminology and process. In addition Nathan Shedroff, our Creative Director (and 1996 Information Design poster child), explored the core ideas of our process in his brilliant treatise on Information-Interaction Design.
