Alfreda Yu Associate Interaction Designer Alfreda graduated from the Human Computer Interaction program from Stanford in December 1998. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she moved to Canada and obtained her computer science studies at the University of Waterloo, Ontario. After enduring 5 brutal winters in Canada, she went back to Hong Kong and worked as a programmer at Hutchison Telecommunications. She worked on database application programming in the billing division of the company for half a year, then began her studies at Stanford in September 97. Interning at Sun Microsystems Lab with the Speech Group the summer of 98 was definitely a blast with the great seafood and cultural scene. At Sun, she experimented with interaction design alternatives in the integration between speech systems and traditional GUIs.
