Tom has been doing new media, in a variety of functions, since 1993. He has been a graphic designer, programmer, project manager and department head -- sometimes all at the same time. Tom has always enjoyed the challenge of mastering complex systems and jumped at the opportunity to be an Information Designer at vivid in 1998. He sees the Web as a tool that provides access to services and vast amounts of unfiltered data. Tom's goal is to put the structure on information that helps people find what they need quickly and efficiently while providing an enjoyable experience.

Prior to arriving in California last summer, Tom was the Director of Distributable Media at Interactive Solutions (now Agency.com) in Boston. Tom led projects for Nationwide Insurance, Union Pacific RR and Putnam Investments. The projects for Putnam Investments were particularly successful and led to a huge increase in Putnam‚s 401k market share. Other Putnam Investments projects included a state of the art consumer information website and a hybrid CD to explain and sell Variable Annuities -- the largest project at Interactive Solutions to date. Tom also contributed heavily to the Best Practices Methodology used at Interactive Solutions.

In previous lives Tom has been a photo mural printer in Boston, an architectural photographer in San Francisco, a student and backpacker in Washington state and a magician in New York. Currently Tom lives in Marin with his wife, two boys, two cats and a mountain bike.
