Tracy hails from the east coast. She was was born in Atlantic City and grew up in a small town in South Jersey (not "Joisey"," as she is quick to point out, and don't even bother asking her "What exit?").
Prior to sacrificing herself to the web gods, Tracy led an impressively varied life: as a child, she was a competitive figure skater who won medals in low-level competitions. In college, she was a firefighter who actually fought fires both at school and in her hometown. Along the way she earned a degree in history from Rutgers University.

She attended law school in Washington, D.C. for a year and a half, but dropped out when she discovered that web development was more fun. In fact, the web industry was what lured her to San Francisco (though she confesses that she now lives in fear of the next earthquake and has flashbacks to the pictures of 1989's Loma Prieta quake whenever she drives across the Bay Bridge). Fortunately, she hasn't felt any tremors since moving here.

When not slaving away over a hot Linux box, Tracy travels. She's visited three continents so far (Europe, South America, and Antarctica) and has her sights set on Asia next.
