Mike Dalrymple Senior Engineer Michael grew up in the back woods of Frederick, Maryland in a small town called Myersville. In Myersville, Michael benefited from early doses of CRT radiation from his Apple IIe and Macintosh IIcx. Throughout his primary education, Michael's friends would affectionately call him "big geek" and comment on his pasty white skin. Everyone was confused when Michael would skip school to go to work at the local ComputerLand assembling computers. When questioned by academic officials, Michael would reply "They sometimes let me drive a big white van." Michael finally graduated from high school and headed for the snow-capped mountains of Colorado where he would eventually receive his degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. While attending an eclectic variety of classes ranging from aerospace engineering to architectural design, Michael found the time to work. It started in a dungeon-like lab located in the basement of the engineering building where Michael played the part of Unix Systems Administrator. Eventually Michael moved up a couple of floors to work at the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research where he assisted with satellite image analysis projects. During his last years at the university, Michael worked on research projects involving computer aided design at the school of architecture (they had more windows too). After publishing a paper with one of his professors, the university agreed it was time to let him go with a degree in design, specializing in computer aided design. While many of his friends crossed the pond to go backpacking around Europe after graduation, Michael had other plans. With his good friend Neil, Michael packed up his truck and headed south, way south. Michael and Neil drove to Costa Rica hitting every country and almost every cantina along the way. Upon returning to Colorado, Michael decided it was once time again to head west. This time the destination was San Francisco. In San Francisco, Michael found a happy home with vivid studios where he has been designing and building server-side systems for Web-based applications. Basically he helps build websites between Quake death matches. When Michael isn't basking in the blue glow of his computer,
you may find him skiing, backpacking, flying airplanes, jumping out of
airplanes or doing anything that would make his mother's heart jump out
of her chest.
