Valerie Casey Senior Visual Designer In addition to being the first Irish citizen at vivid (tis true! She was born on the Emerald Isle and has the whiskey bottles hidden in her desk drawer to prove it), Valerie also is the only one amongst who can say she's sailed around the world. And prove it, that is. Valerie specializes in creating comprehensive Web experiences that appeal emotionally and intellectually to the user. In addition to site design, Valerie focuses on visual identity development and brand strategy. Her client list includes OpenAuto.com, Coca-Cola, National Geographic, HealthAxis, GreenTree Nutrition (now More.com), Miller Freeman, and Microsoft. Valerie teaches "Web Design I" at San Francisco State University, and "Creating Visual and Interaction Design for the Web" at UC Berkeley. She also teaches classes on multimedia to teenagers in the San Francisco Mayor's Program on Youth Education. Valerie's work has been featured in Forbes Magazine Best of the Web, Yahoo! Internet Life Best of the Web, Fast Company's Net Company, ZDTV Money Machine, Netscape's Website Journal, Japan's MdN magazine, Netscape Netcenter's Resource Center, Yahoo! Site of the Day, and Adobe's Web Page Design book. She serves on the Program Advisory Board at SFSU. She also advised on the New Project Advisory Board for Macromedia's Fireworks as a Photoshop expert and Web designer. Valerie co-wrote and designed Ventana Press' acclaimed book, Photoshop 4 f/x. In a continued effort to push the limits of her vision and imagination, Valerie develops short films in Super 8 and photographs in black and white. As well as working on the feature film, The Watermelon Woman, and the documentary, Women of Vision, Valerie developed two bodies of photographic work which were displayed at the San Francisco Art Institute. A selection of Valerie's films was featured at the 1998 San Francisco International Multimedia Summit. Valerie is a graduate of Swarthmore College and has studied at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. She's also earned a Certificate in Multimedia Studies, from San Francisco State University.
