Rest in Peace Mark Brotherton is a graduate of the University of Michigan. During his time there he also served as the Director of Michigan Telefund, one of the most successful alumni outreach programs in the country. In that capacity he managed the division’s operations, helped define the marketing message, and oversaw the transition of the company from a paper-based system to one that was Information Technology based. Mark moved to San Francisco in 1995 to dive into Web development. As a long-standing geek (not nerd, there being a difference, after all) who was violently disinterested in building a better spreadsheet, he took to the Web not unlike a log to a fireplace. He first worked as a database-centric Web developer for Infinite Access, where he helped build Coldwell Banker’s public and private Internet systems. Mark then helped launch Logic by Design in 1996, where he served as the Vice President for Information Technology. In this role he scoped and helped to develop all technical projects, including the ValuMart eCommerce system. Mark joined vivid out of a desire to work with the caliber of clients that vivid attracts. He worked as a Senior Engineer on a variety of projects including Nike, Britannica, Beaulieu and Glen Ellen Wines, and GreenTree nutrition. Following this work, he became the Applications Engineering Manager in 1998, where he helped systematize various aspects of Web development. Most recently, Mark became the Director of Business Development, where he works with companies to strategize, plan, design, and execute on their initiatives. Mark
is also an instructor at San Francisco State Universities’ Multimedia
Studies Program, where he teaches various eCommerce issues.
